Our House Fund is Wearing Big Boy Pants!

Oh my goodness, it finally happened.

Last night we took a huge step (for us anyway) and moved our teeny tiny baby House Fund from a playpen to the school yard. For the last year it's been cooing away in a money market account but last night we finally took the big step and invested it into a mutual fund. It didn't cry, it didn't even look back at us. It just jumped on that bus and off it went. I feel so proud, and so nervous. Our house fund was almost completely safe in that money market account, surrounded by electrical outlet covers and table corner bumpers. Now it's out there, in the real world, where it can get picked on by the big bad recession bully that's always lurking.

Good luck little House Fund. We'll get to watch you grow over the years and hopefully someday you'll graduate and get to turn the key into our first home.
